New Zealand 2005

2005 has been an interesting year for me so far in New Zealand.  I began with a Job offer in Wellington from a small computer company called Mercury Projects.  Mercury have been a great company to work for, and have given me a good start here in Wellington.  I have gained some excellent experience, and also become a Microsoft Certified Professional.

Outside work, I have joined the Victoria University Tramping Club and have been travelling around New Zealand, staying in Mountain huts and experiencing some amazing scenery.  I have also taken up skiing again enjoying the start of the season down in Wanaka and the Queenstown Winter Festival.  I have joined  Les Mills (a great Gym) in Wellington and also met quite a few friends here.  I have also begun evening work as an English Language Tutor, and am currently tutoring a refugee from Iraq, who is a very interesting guy.  I find this very rewarding

Travelling wise, I think I will always be a travelling man, I have spent a lot of time driving around New Zealand and also have been to Australia a couple of times.  I have had a friend Durand out to visit from the UK as well and, am due to have a friend Kate visit in the next few months.

Work wise, I have recently been made redundant, however on the bright side I have been offered an interesting 12 month contract with IBM.  I think this should provide me with some great experience and career progression.  I look forward to getting stuck in, and doing more of the same.

My website is constantly being developed and the number of hits continues to grow, and I get a wealth of messages through it from people all over the world.  The most recent addition is a new type of photo gallery, where you can go to browse through my pictures and take a look at some of the recent experiences that I have had.

I look forward to hearing from you, and always appreciate messages in my Journal so go ahead and leave a message.
